PERMANENT LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENTS
This safe and effective hair removal option works with many skin types and can be used on several different parts of the body. To address all skin types, we have two options for hair removal: Clearscan™ YAG by Sciton and the Forever Bare™ BBL by Sciton.
How Does Permanent Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser Hair Removal uses laser light to target and damage hair follicles enough to prevent future regrowth while sparing the surrounding skin. After multiple treatments, some patients could experience permanent hair loss in the targeted area. The procedure is safe, effective, and the results don’t carry the side effects of other treatments like ingrown hairs.
What Is Clearscan™ Laser Hair Removal?
The SCITON Joule platform is able to be adjusted to your particular skin type and is clinically proven and safe for both men and women. ClearScan YAG’s large area pattern generator (LAPG), fast speed, non-sequential scanning, powerful cooling, and flat-top beam profile provide optimal results and patient comfort during the procedure.

How Do I Care For My Skin After The Treatment?
It is important to follow your physician’s instructions. We will recommend skin care products and provide instructions on how to use them. These will minimize your risk of inflammation or redness and ensure the shortest healing time. Do not rub irritated skin with a face cloth or towel. You should pat dry only. You should not shave the treated area for 1-3 days post treatment. No waxing or plucking is allowed during the course of treatment. Following treatment, ice may be applied to the treated area if desired. Medications containing aspirin or anti-inflammatories (Aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, etc.) should be avoided for a couple of days before and after treatment. Alcohol intake should be limited. This will help to reduce the risk of trauma and bruising.
What Should I Expect After Treatment?
Some redness and slight swelling may be present in the area that has been treated. However, this should subside within a few hours. If any prolonged redness or swelling occurs, please consult your physician immediately. Keep the treated area clean, use at least SPF 15 sunscreen when going outdoors, and follow physician instructions carefully.
Is There A Risk Of Complications?
Temporary pigmentation changes are possible but seldom occur. Always discuss your concerns with your physician prior to treatment.
What Will Happen During The Procedure?
Your physician will discuss the treatment with you and decide if you need a topical anesthetic cream. The area of your skin that is to be treated will be scanned with laser light. Treatment time will depend on the size of the area to be treated. The continuous cooling feature will ensure your comfort and safety during treatment. Since the sensation varies from individual to individual, a topical anesthetic can be provided. Let your physician know if you are very sensitive.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Hair grows in three different stages. Hair can only be affected by laser energy when it is in its anagen stage. Additionally, hair located on different body parts has different growth cycles and percentages of anagen hair at any one given time. Due to this physiology, a series of treatments must be given over a period of time, usually 6 weeks apart to address the function of the hair. Results depend on the amount and thickness of the treated hair as well as the hair growth cycle of the treated area. We will provide you with complete information about the post treatment care. You will be sensitive to ultraviolet light and you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. A broad spectrum sunblock with zinc oxide and/ or titanium dioxide as the primary ingredients should be used on a daily basis.
Can In-Grown Hair Be Treated?
This is a non-invasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you will be able to return to work, apply makeup, and resume most of your activities right away. Rarely, some individuals develop “purpura” or bruising. Although uncommon, this sometimes occurs in individuals with a very prominent red component. This is painless and typically fades in about 5-10 days. Any bruising may be covered with makeup. Individuals with prominent brown or red color may develop slight temporary swelling for a few days, especially if being treated around the eyes.
Can Tanned Skin Be Treated?
Yes, tanned skin can be treated safely. However, always inform your physician if you have been tanning, using tanning products, or have experienced prolonged exposure to the sun within the last three weeks. Your physician will then adjust your treatment regimen accordingly to give you the safest and most effective experience
Can All Skin Colors Be Treated?
Yes, all skin types from light to dark can be treated
How Does ClearScan Work?
The ClearScan laser selectively targets your hair follicles and heats them with laser energy. Unlike other treatments, the laser beam treats many hairs at once, making treatment of large areas practical. The ClearScan utilizes a unique computer-guided scanning system that automates the treatment, ensuring your skin is rapidly and evenly treated. The computer places the beam in an optimum pattern for your skin to experience a safe, effective and gentle treatment.
What Is ClearScan?
ClearScan employs laser energy that can selectively target microstructures, such as hair follicles. With its targeted absorption by melanin, it gives the optimal balance between safely treating all skin types and effectively removing unwanted hair. The ability to safely treat sun-tanned skin makes this the treatment of choice for active individuals.
